When I was in college, I was told my cholesterol was nearly high. I knew that my mother had high cholesterol as well so is hereditary in my family. I was active, but my diet wasn’t the best and had gained some weight. I refused to believe that I would get heart disease or Diabetes like my family just because it was hereditary. I knew (I was studying nutrition as well) that I could change my lifestyle. So I did. I first went pescatarian, vegeterian, then vegan and more whole foods plant based (although not perfect). It has also helped me with my performance as a marathon runner and I couldn’t imagine going back and eating any other way. Thanks Trevor and others for creating this community for people like me to share our stories and impact more lives!

When did you switch to the vegan/plant-based diet?
